1900 Vintage English Brass Match Holder Vesta with Striker ; CW & BW monogram

Description

This lovely somewhat copper colored brass match holder measures a bit over 1 ¾ inches tall and 1 ½ inches wide and weighs one ounce.  It has a kind of scrolled leaf and indented decoration on both front and back. It is gently curved to fit your pocket. There is a medallion both front and back and the initials BW on the front and CW on the back seem to indicate that it was a present from husband to wife or wife to husband.  The striker is in good condition.  The overall condition is close to excellent.  The tension bar is present and functions as it should to hold the top tightly but the top wobbles a bit when open.  A brass ring on the side permits you to attach it to a watch chain.  A nice tactile piece. The screw on the side indicates its manufacture around 1900.   Postage should be around depending on where the match holder is going.  I do not charge for packing or handling, so please wait for an invoice with exact postage charges.  Thank you for your bid.
