Description
Lot 9 consists of six (6) early postcards of locations in Wyoming. Four of the 6 were posted and two are blank. The backs of the posted (or written on) cards are shown immediately behind the image. Because of photo # limitations by Ebay the blank backs are not shown but I'd be happy to email them to you if asked.Antique standard 3.5" x 5.5" postcard of Palisades Park, Green River, Wyoming. Much earlier card than the postmark would indicate. Probably used a postcard saved by an earlier generation because it was on hand.
Good posted condition with rounded corners.
Wonderful old postcard by J.L. Robbins for Lindstad Studio, Thermopolis, Wyoming. Shows a gravel road leading through the Wind River Canyon on the way to Yellowstone National Park.
This card has a lower left corner crease and rounded corners.
Two interesting images of the Lone Tree growing out of rock on Sherman Hill on the Lincoln Highway in Wyoming.
The Real Photo image of the young tree growing out of the rock has some cracks on the surface of the photo, which can be seen in the photos. It was mailed in 1939 from Cheyenne, Wyoming. This is probably a rare postcard as it was crudely made and not particularly interesting. That often leads to few sales thus few cards remaining 81 years later.
The linen card shows the same tree as an old, damaged tree with only one branch remaining. The monument behind is the Ames Monument commemorating the Ames brothers whose financial backing enabled the Union Pacific to first span America with a railroad.
Wonderful old pre-linen postcard Needle Point, published by The Omaha News and printed in Germany, likely inspired the name of the town of Needle Point, Wyoming.
This card has abrasions to the lower right corner area and a lower left corner crease. It was addressed, written on and stamped but no cancellation.
Sanborn Souvenir #1078 The Big Spring...Thermopolis, Wyoming was mailed in 1946 and postmarked Riverton, WY.
Please look carefully at the photos, which are considered part of the description.
