Antique Art Nouveau-style Bronze Matchbox Holder and Ashtray

Description

This is a vintage bronze piece that was designed to serve a dual purpose, functioning as a matchbox holder as well as an ashtray.  It measures approximately 4” in height, 7 3/8” in length and 4 ¼” in width and features a lovely bronze finish that is decorated with a beautiful Art Nouveau floral design on the tray and an Egyptian-style bird design on the matchbox holder.  It is fitted with four feet on the base and is quite substantial in weight.  The matchbox holder is screwed into the base and is able to swivel.  It is unmarked by the maker but is stamped with the embossed numerals, “4551”.  This antique matchbox holder/ashtray is in very good vintage condition with the exception of the following:  tarnish, slight discolorations, some minor nicks along the edges of the tray and a small nick on the matchbox holder.  Despite these very minor flaws this is a stunning bronze piece that features a gorgeous patina, a stylish Art Nouveau design and has been well-preserved.  This is a very rare and collectible treasure from the past!
