However, these shortcomings are commensurate with the piece's age, which we believe is from the late 1800s or early 1900s. Please see photos to appreciate the beauty and condition of this piece.     Offered here is an antique match safe or vesta made sterling silver. This match safe is bright-cut engraved with a very nice floral and foliate design on one side. This antique matchsafe was probably made in the late 1800s or early 1900s most likely in the USA. It has a striker on the bottom and a hinged lid.
    Marks:
    The match safe has no markings as to the maker's name. It is marked STERLING on the lip. In addition there are some letters engraved along the lip, which look like it could be MMEE?
    Size:
    The match safe measures 2 1/2" long, 1 1/2" wide and is ~1/4" deep.
