A scarce, early, combination match safe and cigar cutter with architectural decoration.
German, ca. 1870's- 1915.
Book shaped, chrome plated tin with chromo-lithographed depiction of City Hall in Berlin, Germany on a gold background.
Text: BERLIN, RATHHAUS.
Match striking surface on outside bottom AND a different type on the side.
Cigar cutter at top closure.
Has an interior, lidded side compartment for collecting the cigar-end
cuttings!
No maker's mark.
Fine used condition with some scratches.
A very attractive, early example of the type.
