THE CHESHIRE CAT
The animated feature film Alice in Wonderland was produced in 1951 by Walt Disney Productions, now known as The Walt Disney Company.
The original cels used in the production of the film are no longer available from The Walt Disney Company. Thus, the Studio has chosen to recreate Disney character images using the silk-screen print process of color reproduction. Disney artists, working from the original animation drawings used for the production of Alice in Wonderland, as well as from film reference materials, have translated the original image to hand-inked and painted cels.
This limited edition was produced in 1990. It is comprised of 2,500 serigraph cels and 100 publisher's proofs, for a total maximum of 2,600 serigraph cels. The techniques utilized in the production of this edition and the proofs thereof were approved by the Disney Art Program. Conforming to the practice of fine-art printing, the silk screens used to create the edition were destroyed when the edition was completed. There are no signed or numbered impressions in this edition.
