French Antique Porcelain Bistro Café Bar Match Holder/ Striker
An iconic piece of French bistroware is the match holder/striker found in every café/bar/bistro in France since the 1880’s.
This one dates from the early 1930’s, is made in porcelain and was for the Badot & Co. distillery, who specialized in fine absinth, located in the village of Beaume -les- Dames in Burgundy France.
It measures 3 ¼ inches tall, the large base is 3 3/4 inches in diameter and the top match holder cup is 2 inches in diameter. It is in very good condition – no cracks, no chips and no fissures with a clean sea green striker.
This is one of the rarer models of bistro match holders and makes an interesting addition on a bar.
