Striking gold-embossed poster depicting two “streamliners” racing at AVUS in 1937. In the #35 car, Auto Union’s Bernd Rosemeyer pursues the #31 Mercedes-Benz driven by Rudolf Caracciola. Rosemeyer’s 4:11.2 lap time—at a blazing speed of 276.39 kph—set a world record that remained unbroken for 34 years.
Poster commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Avus track in Berlin, with its 43-degree banks made for high speeds. Numbered in a limited edition of just 100.
This poster is beautifully rendered in richly colored inks on a substantial textured stock, combining features from—and the feeling of—fine photography, painting, and 3-D digital graphics into a unique presentation. Gold embossing sets off the lettering beautifully, and the unusual track shape embossed below the cars in the image, as well.
