    One of Walt  Disney’s   Nine Old Men  Disney  Legend Ward Kimball's  GRIZZLY FLATS BACKYARD RAILROAD TRAIN DEPOT and his 1883 BALDWIN WOOD-BURINING ENGINE at NIGHTIME
    Ward Kimball’s 1883 Baldwin Locomotive and his Grizzly Flats Railroad Station was published on the cover of this Horseless Carriage Gazette Magazine 1956
    You are bidding on a November-December 1956 Issue of the HORSELESS CARRIAGE GAZETTE MAGAZINE featuring one of WALT DISNEY’s "NINE OLD MEN" WARD KIMBALL in his backyard “GRIZZLY FLATS RAILROAD" that is complete with a restored 1907 Baldwin 0-4-2 Wood-Burning Locomotive named “Chloe” after his daughter.
    Ward Kimball was an avid collector of antique Fire Equipment, antique American and European model trains, along with a 1907 full-sized 0-4-2T Baldwin wood-burning Locomotive and a second locomotive, a 2-6-0 1883 Baldwin coal burning Locomotive that he renamed the “Emma Nevada” after the late 1800’s opera star Emma Nevada. The Chloe pulled a set of train cars custom made by Kimball, consisting of four-bench open cars added around 1975 and two passenger-carrying gondolas built around 1993. Kimball also added a roundhouse, a water tower, a windmill, and a depot building from the 1949 Disney film “So Dear To My Heart”.
    This 66-page magazine has a hilarious 2-page illustration created by Ward Kimball titled, - ASININE ALLEY - - Horseless Carriage Painting Made Easy - There was always a “gag” associated with Ward Kimball’s humor and it is in full display in this “How To Paint A Car” cartoon.
    As a long time member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America, Ward Kimball also drove a 1911 Maxwell Fire Chiefs Car along with a full size antique Le France Steam Water Pumping Firetruck! THESE WERE ALL IN HIS BACKYARD!!! If you ever had the opportunity to visit Ward and he gave you a personal tour of his backyard collection of Trains and Cars . . . it was very special!
    Many of Ward Kimball’s fellow Disney artists were also members of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. Of note, was Ben Sharpsteen who directed 31 Disney films from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937 until his retirement in 1954. In this Nov-Dec 1956 issue of the Horseless Carriage Gazette, the HCCA Directors recognized Ben Sharpsteen for recently being elected to receive Honorary Life-Time Membership for his service to the organization. He headed the HCCA Publications Committee for 6 years, a National Director for 11 years and Chairman of the Board in 1946.
    He also drew approximately 20 Magazine Covers for the Horseless Carriage Gazette. We will be offering a few of these Magazines featuring his very humorous covers in the near future. Ben Sharpsteen drove a Pope-Hartford Horseless Carriage!
    WOW!! . . . that's a lot of Disney history that in this 1956 HORSELESS CARRIAGE GAZETTE It is in excellent condition with only one exception. A previous owner had cut out the Horseless Carriage Club Identification Badge Order Form on page 55. The portion removed from the magazine measures 4 1/2” tall x 4 1/4” wide but did remove any of the information described in this ebay listing. The Cover Page displays very well. There are no “dog-eared” corners. The binding is solid with no loose pages. There is no hand writing, markings or folded pages within this fine magazine. (Please note that these two Horseless Carriage Gazette Magazines with covers by Ben Sharpsteen are not a part of this ebay offering)
