Rare 1985 Pebble Beach Concours poster featuring Loralee Lyman's rendering of a Bugatti Royale Type 41 Coupe against a green background.
If you've seen as many of these posters as we have, you'll know that they frequently sustain light damage when stored in the old-style pinched-end tubes, sporting stripes of green that contrast with the usual rose-gray background. This poster was evenly exposed to the light, turning the entire background into a cool, Art Deco shade of mint green. It's an interesting "variant"—very fortunately faded. (One of us here prefers it to the original gray.)
More about the poster: Ettore Bugatti produced only six Bugatti Type 41 Royales from 1926 to 1933. They are among the world's most prized cars—highly regarded expression of style and luxury. All six were gathered together for the first time at the 1985 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
The poster is printed on a heavy matte stock more characteristic of Eldon Dedini's Concours posters of the late 1060s and early 1970s, and at least one other Concours poster from the mid-1970s, than of the lighter stock more in favor by the 1980s. Measures approximately 29 1/2" x 19" (76cm x 49cm).
Poster is in good condition, due to the overall color change, staple holes in all four corners, edge wear, a bit of surface scuffing, and some handling dimples in the print surface visible mostly at low viewing angles. It still shows quite impressively, if you don't mind its departure from the original color.
