SCOTTISH YOUNG MAN FEATHERED CAP 19TH C WALL MATCH HOLDER STRIKER STAFFORDSHIRE

Description

The young figure comprising this match holder/stricker could be male or female...and wears a red plume in the green, yellow and black striped cap.  The striker surface is immediately below the neck and is a mottled black, red and green.  The finish of the ceramic is bisque, no chips or cracks, no repairs or damage.  One can see the blemishes where matches have stroked the surface, and on the back there are dark marks where the holder was lifted and replace upon the nail.  It measures about 5 1/2" H x 2 3/4" W x 2 1/4" D.  I suspect it was made in Staffordshire, mid 19th C.  Check out my OTHER ITEMS/SELLER STORE.
