The Art Disneyland from the 1988 Grand Opening of The Disney Gallery - Snow White’s Scary Adventure - The Wicked Queen - Autographed by Disney Legend Ken Anderson on 8/23/88
This Wicked Queen Concept Drawing Was Orginally Drawn and Created By Ken Anderson in 1954 for Disneyland’s “Snow White’s Scary Adventure” Fantasyland Dark Ride. It was re-created For The Disney Gallery Grand Opening In 1988 and personally signed by KEN ANDERSON With A Silver Metallic Sharpie.
The entire size of this Disney Gallery Art Print measures 32” tall and 26” wide. The Wicked Queen image only measures 16 1/2” tall and 20” wide. This Art of Disneyland Art Print is marked “copyright 1988”. It is previously owned with light wear from storage and handling.
Ken Anderson was an Art Director, Screenwriter, and Animator at Walt Disney Productions for 44 years. He studied architecture at the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. With his skills in architecture, even though the nation was still in a Depression, Anderson soon secured a position at Disney. Walt Disney (who would refer to Ken as his “Jack of all Trades”) originally animated the Silly Symphonies cartoons.
He excelled as a background & layout artist, and was soon promoted to Art Director for Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia & The Reluctant Dragon. He created Shere Khan for The Jungle Book and was influential in the production design for Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians and The Aristocrats. Ken Anderson also worked on the development of Disneyland and EPCOT. He created the beloved character of Elliot the Dragon in the 1977 film Pete’s Dragon. Ken Anderson was a 1991 recipient of the Disney Legends award for Animation and Imagineering.
As Disneyland was originally developed, Walt Disney put Ken Anderson and Claude Coats in charge of much of the design of Fantasyland including three of the Dark Rides, Peter Pan's Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride & Snow White’s Scary Adventure. This ominous drawing of The Wicked Queen on the precipice poised to leverage a huge bolder to tumble down was Ken’s 1954 original concept art used for the Snow White Dark Ride.
