Description

A very unique, vintage Trans Terra Off Road Racing series poster from the early days of Off-Road Racing in Northern California. Vallejo Speedway was a popular dirt track that was open to Hardtops, Stock cars from the 60's through the 80's. The RURA Sprint Buggies and Sport Sedans ran several times on a modified dirt track setting. The large hardboard placard measures 14"W X 22"H and is 1970-1975 vintage. It has been in dark storage since new and is in
excellent, clean, condition, with only slight fading at the lower edge from age. Colors are bright fluorescent green and black graphics on a white background. This is a hardboard and must be shipped flat. It cannot be rolled. I will ship in a reinforced cardboard flat sheaf via USPS. Please, notify he post office if there is any damage. Packing and shipping is FREE.
The Trans Terra Series was a regular summer series put on by RURA from the San Francisco Bay area and
Northern California in general. The series started in 1968 and ran through 1977 and consisted of 3 classes. TT Sprint Buggies, Super Sport and Stock Sedans such as VW's, Toyotas, Anglia's, Mini's Datsun's etc.. Racing consisted of trophy dashes, heat races and main events RURA ran weekly, usually on Thursday and/or Friday nights during the summer. Most races were run at Baylands but others, usually special or Open Comp events were held throughout the Bay Area. At approximately the same time, J.C. Agajanian was running a Sprint Buggy race series at Ascot Park in Gardena California. Rules were similar and many drivers ran both.
Roads Unlimited Racing Association was started in 1968 by my husband and several other off road enthusiasts. The idea was to develop and promote off road racing in Northern California. Many events were held over the next 9 years at locations such as Baylands (Fremont raceway) Fremont CA, Champion Speedway, Brisbane CA; Vallejo Speedway Vallejo, CA; Petaluma Speedway, Petaluma CA; Carnegie Cycle Park, Livermore, CA; San Jose Fairgrounds, San Jose CA and others. This organization was putting on put on short course off road races 3 years before Mickey Thompson started SCORE.
