    Description

    USA SALES ONLY.   SORRY.
    This is a VERY RARE match holder (or case or box or vesta) for holding a quantity of
    matches (not shown nor for sale) therein. It is made of bone (likely bovine) material and very compact
    in design as shown (only 2" long). It works very well - the flip lever moves to open
    and close freely.
    Note that it includes a notched side to facilitate match striking.
    The estimated time of manufacture of these types is around 1890*.
    * - I believe these were
    also made earlier
    because the use of individual matches (as would
    be carried by one of these) began to end when matchbooks and loose hard-paper match
    boxes came into vogue.
