    Description

Vintage Hand-Painted Drinking Glasses - San Francisco Scenes. The interesting provenance of this set is worth relating. They are estate items from a Standard Oil executive who spent his career living all over the world. San Francisco was was Standard Oil's headquarters, and this set is from that iconic city. Based on the artistic renditions, landmarks represented, and more importantly what isn't represented, we place the period from late 1940's to early 1950's. Tourism had spiked up after WWII, flooding the city and demanding souvenirs. They would have been a great memento! Our analysis is thus - Bay Bridge and Ferry Building, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Cable Car, Chinatown and the Cow Palace or Barbary Coast. Notice there is no sign of the pyramid, the Embarcadero, B of A building, ect. The condition of the paintings varies by glass. There is definitely wear, but their charm endures. Photos are provided so the description and condition can be studied. We do not detect any chips or cracks. The glasses have heavily weighted bases for stability. 5 5/8" Tall.
