    Description

    Vintage  Mexican sterling / 0925 souvenir hat / sombrero / trinket holder was a popular mid 20th century keepsake / gift from a trip south of the border. it features repoussed floral motifs  on a textured ground; MEXICO is incised on the central conical protrusion above a crossed, applied "rope". There is a gadroon edge. Marked on side of conical part with a maker's mark of conjoined CA (for C. Avila de la Borda), eagle 52 ans 0925. The fingerprint / dimple indents on the sides are deliberate and simulate folds on fabric, straw or leather. Approximate diameter is 4 1/2". Gross weight: 45.9 grams. Note: there is about 1"  around the edge that is slightly out of round.   I 3530
