Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. This sericel edition, "Eeyore's Lament," recreates scene 214 of the classic 1966 animated featurette. Eeyore, sitting alone, greets the day with a pessimistic sigh before being joined by his
playmates Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin.
The Walt Disney Studios has created this character image using the fine art screen-printing process of color reproduction known as serigraphy. Disney artists, working from original animation drawings and film reference materials used for the production of Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, created a hand-inked, hand-painted animation master cel which was used by Samper Silkscreen of Los Angeles, California in the production of these sericels. A total of 11 colors are used to recreate the color image, each of which has been exactingly screen-printed, one color at a time, onto the acetate cel.
The background scene accompanying this cel has been recreated by Disney artists. It is not an original production background. However, original layouts, sketches and frames from Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree were used as reference. The resulting artwork has been lithographically printed on premium-quality, acid-free paper by Anderson Printing of Los Angeles, California.
This limited edition was produced in 1998. It is comprised of a general edition of no more than 5,000 sericels and no more than 500 publisher's proofs for a total maximum of 5,500 sericels. Walt Disney Art Classics approves the techniques used in the production of this edition and the proofs thereof.
Conforming to the practice of fine art printing, the screens used to create the edition are destroyed when the edition is closed.
The original character drawings and the original background painting are archived in the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. The hand-inked, hand-painted cel and the recreated background are archived with the publisher. There are no signed or numbered impressions in this edition. No additional multiples of this image, including proofs, have been produced in this or any other limited edition.
