    Description

For sale is a vintage United States Treasury certificate that relates to the 2nd War Loan Drive during World War II. It came from the estate of the late W.C. Fairweather of McLeansboro, Illinois. Fairweather, a prominent educator and businessman, was publisher of Hamilton County newspapers when he received the certificate in appreciation of his support in advertising the war bond campaign. It is dated May 12: 1943, and bears the facsimile signature of Henry Morgenthau Jr., who was then the Secretary of the Treasury. Printed on paper stock, this blank-backed award measures 5 1/4 by 8 inches and is quite hard to find. It is in very good condition, with a light stain in the lower-right corner.
